Throwback Thursday: Stay Hydrated

Throwback Thursday: Stay Hydrated

Four years ago, my gym wasn’t what you’d picture today. There were no walls, no air conditioning, and no fancy machines. My gym was outdoors—a testament to grit, determination, and the belief that greatness isn’t confined to comfort.

Rain or shine, hot or cold, even when the thermometer hit 104 degrees, we trained. Why? Because exposing yourself to the elements doesn’t just test your body—it fortifies your mind. That’s where true strength comes from.

Embracing the Elements

Looking back at those scorching summer sessions, there’s one message that stands out clearly in the memories and the photos: Hydration is key. It was more than just advice—it was a survival skill in the Texas heat.

We made sure to stress the importance of staying properly hydrated, not just to get through the session but for optimal health and performance. For every hour spent training, we emphasized drinking 6 ounces of water to support:

  • Proper Cellular Function: Your body thrives on hydration. Without it, cells can’t perform their basic tasks, and your energy levels plummet.

  • Muscle Development: Water is essential for muscle recovery and growth, carrying nutrients and oxygen to muscle tissues.

  • Fat Loss: Did you know dehydration can slow down your metabolism? Staying hydrated ensures your body burns fat efficiently.

A Lesson in Resilience

Those outdoor sessions weren’t just about physical strength; they were about embracing challenges. Whether it was the blazing sun or an unexpected downpour, we learned to adapt. We learned that comfort isn’t a prerequisite for progress.

Training in those conditions reminded us of a simple yet powerful truth: If you can push through adversity here, you can push through it anywhere.

Staying Classy, San Antonio

San Antonio, you’ve always been about grit and grace, and those outdoor training days embody that spirit. As we’ve grown and evolved, the lessons from those days remain core to what we do:

  • Train with purpose.

  • Stay consistent, no matter the conditions.

  • Never underestimate the power of proper hydration.

So today, let’s raise a water bottle to the grind, to the heat, and to the strength that comes from pushing through. Stay classy, San Antonio. 👌

Pro Tip: Next time you’re in a workout, make sure you’re hydrating as you go. A steady 6 ounces of water every hour isn’t just for the outdoors—it’s a rule for life, fitness, and fat loss.
